ARKIL Awarded Clonakilty Drainage Scheme Contract

ARKIL are delighted to have been awarded the contract for Clonakiltys new drainage and resurfacing scheme. These works will be carried out in conjunction with the NRA who will lead the project on behalf of Cork County Council. The project begins work on April 20th and expected to be completed in April 2016.

The overall value of the project is approx. €2.13million + VAT and will include:

2400m2 of footpath removal
660m of 600mm diameter Storm Sewer
180m of 900mm diameter Storm Sewer
150m of 1050mm diameter Storm Sewer
2No. Pumping Stations including headwalls and outfalls
1100m of service ducting for utilities
3330m3 of excavation
1540m3 of imported material
7000m2 of Hot Rolled Asphalt and Binder Course Macadam
6000m2 of Base Course Macadam
Associated Road Marking and Signage
1000m of Carlow Blue Limestone Kerbs and 1500m2 of Carlow Blue Paving Blocks
600m of Precast Kerbs
720m of 300mm diameter Watermain
300m of 100mm diameter Watermain

Established in 1988 and specialists in providing road construction materials, ARKIL will carry out the following works:

New storm water collection system with 2 No. pumping stations
New water main and associated works
Upgrading of footpaths and re-arrangement of street furniture
New public lighting, landscaping and street furniture
Resurfacing of the carriageway
Alteration of two-way route from junction of R880 and Clarke Street, to junction of R880 and Sand Quay to a one-way route.

At a recent information evening held at O’Donovan’s Hotel, members of the public to view the plans for the new drainage and resurfacing scheme. In addition ARKIL will continue to cooperate with Clonakilty Chamber of Commerce on a regular basis to assure local businesses there will be as little disruption as possible during the works.

ARKIL has a long track record in delivering and managing Civil Engineering projects. The new drainage works and resurfacing scheme will benefit Clonakilty greatly and have a positive impact on the townscapes.
